Mason Four Months July 5

Mason is already 4 months old! Over the last month there have been some big changes. The biggest change is that he has been trying to turn himself over from his back to his stomach, but that darn arm of his is always in the way and he hasn’t quite figured out how to move it. The other huge thing he has been doing is trying to sit up. One day we laid him down with his head propped up and we noticed he was trying to do stomach crunches to sit up. It is so great to see him trying to sit up, but it also means that we have to watch him closely because within seconds he can go from laying down to folding himself in half. He has also been grabbing anything and everything in sight and then putting it in his mouth. One of the toys we bought him to put in his mouth is a turtle which he hangs on his arm to have on hand for when he wants to eat its head (see picture).

The day he turned four months we took him to his first concert (out of utero – he went to the Fillmore to hear Pinback when he was just a little bean) the Fillmore Jazz Festival and listened to the sweet sounds of Kim Nalley. It started off rocky, but he ended up enjoying it (see picture). Since he is holding his head up completely now, we were able to turn him around to face forward in the baby bjorn, which is a whole new exciting world for him. Now, instead of falling asleep in the baby bjorn, he just giggles and motorboats to anyone and anything.

Finally we have noticed that Mason just loves himself, which he shows us all the time when he smiles and makes faces at himself in the mirror. We told him to enjoy it because it would only be cute to love himself when he was this young.
